Frankenstein Trivia
Mary Shelley, who wrote the novel, “Frankenstein” got the idea from a dream she had. Mary’s maiden name, Mary Godwin, married the famous poet Percy Shelley, and she wrote the famous novel when she was only nineteen years old.
Although most people associate the name of the monster as Frankenstein, it was Dr. Victor Frankenstein who gave life to the monster. In the original novel, the monster did not have a name.
In the Universal Films version released in 1931, it was so terrifying that the movie was actually banned in the State of Kansas!
The lore of the famous monster lives and inspires to this very day. In fact, Aerosmith was inspired by the comedy “Young Frankenstein” when they wrote their hit song, “Walk This Way“. Also, the hit play and film adaptation of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” traces its roots back to Frankenstein as Richard O’Brien’s creation of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Even an episode of the X-Files featured a monster like Frankenstein that was obsessed with Cher.
